Semaglutide is FDA approved for weight management under the brand name Wegovy. It was originally created to help with diabetes control marketed under the brand name Ozempic and has been safely used for several years.
Semaglutide mimics a health promoting, naturally occurring peptide in the body (GLP-1) which slows your gastric emptying, which allows the body to utilize the nutrients from the food that you eat and makes you feel full for longer periods of time. Studies show that it reduces appetite and food cravings as well as increasing blood glucose control and encourages your body to utilize stored fat for energy.
It is important to note that there are no food restrictions included in this weight program, however Semaglutide should be used in combination with lifestyle changes including a healthy diet and exercise. We encourage you to eat foods that are higher in nutritional value because you will quickly find that you eat much less than you are used to while taking this medication.
